Alexander Blockx has informed captain Steve Darcis that he will not be able to join the Belgian Davis Cup team.
The captain has therefore selected Kimmer Coppejans to replace him.
"It’s a logical choice: he is the most experienced and highest-ranked player among our options."
“The main reason I went out there was because I knew how special it is to have the chance to play on Arthur Ashe Stadium. It’s not something that happens every day/week/month, or even every year. So I really wanted to experience it again and take everything in one more time.”

plan for the next 3 months
“Firstly getting healthy is the priority. I need to take a few days off just to let my body recover properly. If I’m able to play those tournaments as planned, I’ll see that as a bonus, especially because I don’t have many points to defend.”
the Davis Cup next week
“We need to discuss with the team. If I just listened to my heart, I would definitely want to play. But I have to think about what is best for my body, not only right now but also in the long term. I want to have the longest career possible.”

Alexander Blockx vs Karen Khachanov
2-6, 5-7, 2-3 ret.
End of a fantastic road. His body didn't cooperate today. Not abnormal carrying 2 injuries going in this match.
There will be plenty of chances.
He's only 21 years old & will be ATP 26 on Monday.
