I think part of the reaction to Gordon’s performance last night comes from the fact that a lot of culers don’t really watch other teams outside Barça, so they don’t actually know his profile.

Then, of course, the hype accounts started sharing selective dribbling clips, which created the wrong impression that he’s a pure 1v1 specialist. That set unrealistic expectations.

In reality, if Flick or Deco wanted a 1v1 winger, they would’ve targeted profiles like Nusa or Leão. That clearly wasn’t the idea. Flick wanted someone with smart movement, fast and aggressive runs, and strong pressing, similar to Raphinha, and Gordon fits that profile well. His 1v1 ability isn’t bad, but it’s not his main strength.

People need to stop obsessing over the idea of a pure dribbling left winger. That’s not what Flick wants, and it’s not what we signed. Gordon should be judged on what he actually brings, not what people assumed he was.
