π Zach LaVine says he's not worried about Darius Acuff Jr. at all because of the rookie's talent and strong mentality.
Zach LaVine: βI'm not worried about Darius at all. You guys can see how talented he is. And he has the mentality of, he doesn't let things bug him. A lot of shots he took in game one, he just didn't make. β¦ He started off slow and it didn't stop him. He made a lot of plays down the stretch. β¦ So obviously I'm proud of him.β

Domantas Sabonis and Darius Acuff Jr. combined for 60 points in the Kings' home opener: a 27-19-10 triple-double for Sabonis and 33 PTS for Acuff.
Here's what they, Doug Christie, and Zach LaVine said about the pairing after the 128-120 loss to Portland: π
π Doug Christie says Domantas Sabonis and Darius Acuff Jr. are a good combination with Sabonis' playmaking and Acuff's creativity on and off the ball.
Doug Christie: βI think that it's a good combination. Domas, it's playmaking ability. Darius, it's creativity on and off the ball. β¦ Domas has the ability to make those plays, hand it off, pass it late. Then Domas is a rolling threat, Darius is a threat from behind the arc and in the mid-range and finishing at the basket. β¦ There's a lot of good stuff there for those two for sure.β

π Darius Acuff Jr. says Domantas Sabonis makes everybody better, and owns that he rushed and didn't play through him enough in game one.
Darius Acuff Jr.: βSpeaking of Domas, he's unbelievable, the stat line he had, the chemistry with him is great. He makes everybody better on the floor. β¦ I think this game, I kind of was making better reads for him and for myself. I feel like last game I was rushing. Wasn't playing through him enough. β¦ I think the first game I should have executed that better for sure. So I take parts in that for sure.β
Darius Acuff Jr. vs. Portland: 33 PTS (10-26 FG, 11-12 FT) Β· 4 AST in 37 MIN.

Tiago Splitter says the Bulls have to be patient with Caleb Wilson and find moments to feed him, especially to close games.
Tiago Splitter: βI think you got to be patient, right? Sometimes he doesn't touch the ball. He starts to creep to the ball. He wants to shoot it. And it's understandable. You just got to be patient. We're going to feed him throughout the game. We're going to find moments to give him the ball, and that's what we did at the end, and he closed the game for us.β
Caleb Wilson ended the night with 21 PTS (7 4Q PTS) β’ 6 REB β’ 2 BLK.
Cameron Boozer delivers high-level rookie performance as Grizzlies monitor his workload.
Tuomas Iisalo: βHe was on right from the get-go. I think him not knocking down shots in a couple of games led to them giving him a little bit of open space. And he obviously started, I think, going 3-3 and was feeling good and overall high-level rookie matchup and just does it all. I keep repeating that after every game, but no matter which role he's in, in transition, he's relentless. It doesn't really seem like he had our highest minutes tonight and seems to be able to push through it without any sign of fatigue. Now any sign of fatigue doesnβt equal that he doesnβt have fatigue, so we gotta be smart there.β
Boozer finished the night with 25 PTS (4/7 3PM) β’ 13 REB β’ 6 AST.
Yaxel Lendeborg expects aggressive role on offense against Phoenix with Curry and Podziemski out for the back-to-back.
Yaxel Lendeborg: βI would definitely say I have to be way more aggressive tomorrow night. I'm looking forward to it, see how I do, how I, you know, step up to the challenge, and I mean, we'll see how the offense flows tomorrow.β

π Darius Acuff Jr. says he has to take responsibility for too many zero-pass shots in his 5-for-24 debut and slow down to get the Kings' scorers involved.
Darius Acuff Jr.: βIt was an off game. Just got to bounce back. β¦ It was a lot of zero-pass shots. Starting with myself, I gotta be better on that part, especially as a point guard. That can happen, so I take a lot of responsibility for that. β¦ Just stay in the floor game and slow down a little bit. I think I was rushing a little bit yesterday. Like I said, as the point guard, the ball is in my hands. β¦ We got guys like Zach, Domas β¦ who can put points on the board. So I just gotta realize that.β
Darius Acuff Jr. in his NBA debut: 12 PTS (5-24 FG, 0-7 3P) Β· 3 AST Β· 4 TO.
