Students wrapped up our Political Process unit by creating mind maps. 🧠🗺 These 5 made our “Make Yourself Proud” board- such great thinking serves as a great role model for peers looking to make edits to their own work! 🏅 @GlasgowMS@FCPSR2@FcpsSocial
#sschat A5: The Content vs. Skill divide is a myth. False binary. They act together. We develop skills using social studies content. And as skills are practiced more content is understood because students think about it.
#sschat A3: Scaffold thinking by tapping into students lived experiences, provide everyday examples, and use disciplinary terms - if you want students to go deep in any field you must use that discipline's terminology.
A2: Making sure that students know what we are doing, why we are doing it, and how it actually makes them better at ____ skill. We can't treat them as individual items, content and skill have to go together.

#sschat A1 : Scale Shifting and Periodization have been two difficult ones. But we have developed activities for the latter and working on ones for the former.

🇺🇸Memorial Day & Veterans Day are often confused for one another and can be easily misunderstood. Both honor the military community, however, these two federal holidays couldn’t be more different.
Take a moment to learn about the difference: https://t.co/TOR1LgRzFf
