The harbor sheltering Russia's Black Sea Fleet was on fire before dawn.

Russia had pulled its warships hundreds of kilometers back to Novorossiysk after Ukrainian strikes chased them out of occupied Crimea. Overnight on 12 August, Ukraine reached them there — hitting the base with Palianytsia jet drones, Neptune missiles, and sea drones, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

Fires lit the Sheskharis oil terminal and the naval harbor. Two of Russia's largest grain terminals stopped work, and Russian officials claimed falling drone debris damaged homes and killed an eight-year-old child.

The port that loads Russia's oil and wheat is no longer a safe rear.
