'Social media', in general, is rotting,
being way beyond its 'best before' date.

It's terminally ill actually,
and headed towards its death bed,

far more rapidly and inevitably
than scarcely anyone 'thinks'... (so far!).

I'll share just two of the many reasons today:

(note: these apply to ALL platforms,
with the only possible exception being
[but only for a little while longer], S!bst!!k*).

[I write it like that because
I am certain the Algorithmic Inhibitor
here on X suppresses any post which mentions it.]

1. 'Social Media' is a Pyramid Scheme:

one which extracts values from its users,
while offering them little or nothing in return.

All pyramid schemes fail, sooner or later.

Consider the following:

- X: market cap down >70%; ad revenue plummeting.

- Meta (FB/Insta): stock value down by two thirds.

- Friendster: NOT 'pining'... Dead.

- MySpace: has passed on... is no more.

- Vine: also is no more... has ceased to be.

- Google+: expired... has gone to meet its maker.

- Periscope: a stiff... bereft of life, RIP.

- Tumblr: will soon be pushing up daisies.

If Twitter had been called 'Parrot',

its metabolic processes would, by now, be:

history... off the twig... kicked the bucket...
shuffled off this mortal coil, run down the curtain,

and joined the bleedin' choir invisible.

i.e. It would be a DEAD Parrot... an *X* Parrot!

Only readers of a certain age will 'get' this joke.

What about LinkedIn?

One billion 'users' - triple the number on X.

I'm one of those, but very rarely log in these days.

And when I do, I can see that the engagement
between those (so-called) 'users' is all but extinct now.

This leads me on to the second reason
why some folk, like myself, 'think it's all over',

and the rest will soon have to admit: 'It is NOW'!

2. 'Social Media' is Ever Less Social.

Even during the mere 12 months or so,
in which I have been (somewhat) active here,

I have seen what passed for 'engagement' -

(I do mean on average in general -
I've met a very few here, with whom
engagement has been most cordial and meaningful) -

but generally I've seen the 'engagement' deteriorate:

from passing and perfunctory,
and from shallow and superficial,

to mindless and meaningless,
as well as robotic and repetitive.

Of my 600 followers, I might have 30 that have
any genuine interest in the messages I am carrying.

Many are here, gaming the system to
grind out digital slavery wages of $1 per hour.

(Don't get me started on the greed
of this platform in stringing them along,
as it knowingly exploits them, all the while
keeping them on tenterhooks wrt their next 'pay-out)'.

I only hope those 'followers' -
and many are, of course, in countries
where a buck goes quite a long way, a fact
of which X goes on taking unfair advantage -

are putting some of their time and energy
into preparing a back-up plan, because when
the ad revenue completely dries up, very soon now -

there'll be no more getting paid as an 'X Creator'.

This platform is already
50% bots performing for bots,

or it might as well be, given the level of
automation and AI-generation of posts and replies.

And of course, there can be
no real social satisfaction in that,
for human beings seeking social engagement.

Once a critical mass of us humans -
(who were the only ones
who might have clicked on an ad) -

start heading for the exits, the exodus
will accelerate at a blindingly fast rate,

leaving X as a dead parrot,

with only a very few remaining here,
tweeting memes into a void of utter pointlessness.

I would have done this three months ago, if
I had not (and I admit this was weak on my part)

This was a false economy, as it meant that

the endgame of which is nano-chipping into
digital entrapment in a cyborg hivemind matrix)

will be banned from (at least most of) the internet.

A growing part of me is looking forward
(in both senses of the expression) to a return:

to real life offline, and playing my small part in
co-creating/joining the Civilisation of The Universe,

which we will seed, nurture and grow in parallel and,
