Pakistan has, for the first time, ranked as the country most affected by terrorism in the 2026 Global Terrorism Index, surpassing Burkina Faso.
According to the report, Pakistan experienced more than 1,045 terrorist incidents in 2025. These attacks resulted in 1,139 deaths and left 1,595 people injured.

This report also says that TTP operates from Afghanistan and shares common ideology with the Afghan Taliban.

The report identifies TTP as the deadliest group operating during the year.

TTP attacks constitute over 67pc of total attacks in Pakistan since 2009, and it is responsible for five times as many attacks in Pakistan as the second most active group, the BLA,” the report said.
