So the SBC just disfellowshipped Saddleback and other churches for having female pastors...
...but they say they can't disfellowship the churches that platform abusers.
When they tell you who they are, believe them.

Hearing @lizzo play some of the Library's priceless antique instruments on Monday was such a gift, and we were honored and happy to help her share that gift with her concert audience Tuesday night. Here is some more behind-the-scenes footage of her Library tour. #LizzoAtLOC
Best church (adjacent) things of the week: bagpipes on Sunday, the church worker who told me she keeps a copy of Jesus Feminist at her desk hoping people will ask about it, and the two pastors who took time to hang out with my boys. ❤️
@MagisterBracey My husband has flown multiple times in the pandemic and has not gotten Covid on an airplane. He always wears an N95. He has a beard, so the fit isn’t perfect, but evidently it is good enough.
@S_L_Sanderson It wasn’t needed for admissions at either of my sons’ colleges, but it was needed for scholarships and admissions to special programs like honors or LLCs.
Someone recently tried to trash public schools to me when they found out I homeschool my kids. My mom was a public school teacher for 30+ years. Many of my dear friends are teachers. I *deeply* believe in public education. You picked the wrong homeschooler, friend.
Dear Christians, please stop demonizing public school and saying that homeschooling is better. It shames people who can’t stay home with their kids or who choose not to homeschool. It’s not your place to say what’s best for a family that’s not your own.
I refuse to surrender the word “Christian” to those who weaponize it for power.
I refuse to let the worst versions of Christianity define the work of Jesus.
I refuse to let toxic churches be the only expression of a faith community.
I want to help build something better.
As a Christian, one of my most frustrating concerns is that evangelical-informed legislation only punishes with penalties & prevent access. It almost never leads to more resources, options, education & thriving. Why? It’s as if evangelicals only survive by keeping the status quo.
If this was about babies, there would be universal healthcare. Free education. Free daycare. Southern states would be doing all they can to drop the Black maternal mortality rate. This is about power and control
And then there are the Christians who say “now our work begins…let’s care for them.” That’s terrifying: if you can’t care for people until you win, then your theology never saw their humanity in the first place. They were only pawns in your game. That’s not of God or Jesus.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻Call yourself anti-abortion if you want, but until you have a holistic view of human flourishing, please do away with the term “pro-life.” It is clearly a bunch of bullshit.
The Supreme Court, in a 6-3 vote, just shielded police from being sued by suspects for failing to provide Miranda warnings: The only remedy is to block the use in court of a suspect's comments.
Kagan: "The Majority here, as elsewhere, injures the right by denying the remedy."
