The US and the Cook Islands have a long history of friendship and cooperation dating back at least to WWII, when the US built runways on Penrhyn and Aitutaki Islands, and have enjoyed diplomatic relations since 2023. These islands occupy a strategic location in the South Pacific Ocean, and their Exclusive Economic Zone is almost 3 times the size of Texas. I was honored today to receive a delegation from the Cook Islands, led by Acting Secretary of Foreign Affairs Josh Mitchell, to discuss deepening our relationship, particularly on economic and commercial matters. 🇺🇸🤝🇨🇰
