So here’s the thing

I was born with, or developed fairly early in my life, a persistent sense of wishing very much that I wanted to be a girl.

This was not an active choice on my part, any more that a child who is destined to be gay develops that sense of self through an active choice

Just as gay people do, I had the choice to fight this sense of identity, or to manifest it, even though manifesting it would take my life outside of what was conceived to be normal and acceptable.

I could have repressed, just as gay men and women did for millennia (and in some cultures, still do); it may have been survivable, but it would have been emiserating

I am guessing gay men and women who took this emiserative path would have described it as an anguish, and perhaps a longing for what might have been.

I chose not to live in anguish.

Yes, bringing my appearance into alignment with how I wanted to live involved medications and surgery, but it put my sehnsucht to rest.

We should be looking for ways to facilitate people not living in anguish. If there was a pill, I would have taken it, just as many gay men and women in generations past would have
But there wasn’t when I transitioned, and there likely will never be

So rather than demonizing dysphoric people and banishing them to the margins of society, or consigning them to live with a lifetime of anguish, we should be looking for a way to make it more likely that they end up like me

Trans friends stay safe in America. There are already people saying the shooter was a trans person. Graham Linehan posting stuff about it being because of trans. It's about to get really bad out there. Stay safe and look after each other.

When I was growing up, I reached some pretty low times in my life and tried to end it. Thankfully I was found each time, and can say things do get better. I may not know what it's like to be trans, but I have a trans son, and have seen their struggles and how the world treats

So Terfs/GC will often say we are not out to erase trans people. But, that's simply not true. Within the Ref/GC cult movement there are those who do want trans people eradicated. They see trans women and trans men as being homophobic, and want to get rid of it.
