I have to be honest and say Argentina had not fully convinced me in any of their games in this tournament. They seemed to have been laboring their way through games. Tonight, I’m sold. After they went behind yet again, they showed a certain fight many teams don’t possess. Well deserved win. Messi once again the difference. At 39, it’s unbelievable what he keeps producing. Greatest of All Time for a reason.
Before every World Cup, there is a conversation around why African teams sort of “underperform” and what not… all well and good but how do expect a team to perform when the calls are as bias as they were last night.
Konsa tripped Adu (that’s a penalty) and that Pickford tackle on Adu again was a red. He just lunged into the striker. No attempt to clear the ball whatsoever. All comfortably overlooked - VAR didn’t even bother to check. Not to talk of all the 50-50 challenges that were called as fouls for England.
Maybe the conversation should be about the poor officiating some teams have to endure at the expense of others.
I’m not a fan of whataboutery but if any of those incidents had been on an English player, they’d have been given. Terrible.
Marvin Senaya was on the bench and Otto Addo said he doesn’t have a right back.
He should not be allowed to coach again in this country because of that
