I think that contractors depend so heavily on the estimate accuracy they play it too conservatively. Selling as a contractor seems hard if you don't have an intimate knowledge of potential pricing landmines.... Most successful contractors I know release the sales part last because the business flourishes when them, and maybe a trusted sales partner, are deeply engaged.
Obviously a deck or epoxy is different than a home addition or kitchen cabinet.
But sales by other people in complicated engineered services is hard.
This is wise. Also, accountants need to confidently guide customers and provide leadership to them that they NEED tax planning, CFO and a true financial and accounting system if they want to scale profitably.
Accountants and tax folks need to "eat the frog" and look their client in the eyes and emphatically guide them that they will remain STUCK if they don't upgrade.
In other words.... SELL
I’m often in awe of how well attorneys keep their advice to a minimum when there isn’t an active engagement. Tax professionals could learn a lot from that.
This is one reason I love building on @webflow. @WordPress can be great, but the number of companies I've witnessed having hacks like this is stunning.
And then to combat it, the web company needs a stack of plugins, and the customer needs to pay for maintenance.
My WordPress site got hacked and the scariest part is it looked completely clean.
To every visitor, the site was normal. To Google, it was serving gambling spam. The paid scanner running on it? "All clean." For 11 days.
The malware was built to hide it showed spam only to Googlebot, and stayed invisible to me and to the scanner.
I found it by hand, cleaned it, and traced how they got in.
