Em might not be YOUR type of hip-hop, but he’s definitely hip-hop. If subject matter determined the genre, many wouldn’t qualify. You don’t have to relate to his music, but that doesn’t make it any less hip-hop. He rapped about his own experiences and was authentically himself.
