The last president to try that "nonsense" was Murtala Muhammed. I get angry at him whenever I remember it. He saw the killings that happened in the first coup. He saw the killings that happened in the second coup that brought the person (Gowon) he usurped into power. Yet, he came in and decided not to use bulletproof cars. He probably would have survived that 1976 coup.
