Show runner Kat Sandler and the cast of ‘YAGA’ spoke about Hudson Williams with @globeandmail
“Reid and the others I spoke to about Williams were excited about the buzz he was bringing to the show, but quick to point out how deserving he is; that he’s a great actor – and a great guy.”
“He is a huge film buff, a film and TV nerd with a gajillion references who has seen everything and can impersonate anyone.” - Clark Backo
“He is just a really lovely human. There’s the Hudson thing, but then there’s a really smart actor who just wants to really work.” - Kat Sandler
“[On advice she would give Hudson Williams] I don’t think he needs it, you know? I think he’s very grounded. I don’t know if it’s the Canadian thing.” - Carrie-Anne Moss

Hudson Williams opens up about navigating his sudden rise to fame after ‘Heated Rivalry’ 🤍 (via @globeandmail)
“Production was under way at the peak of the Heated Rivalry frenzy, which at that point was still new and strange for Williams. It was early March and over the past three months, he had gone from relative unknown to one of the two most visible stars in the world, along with Storrie, who four days earlier had guest-hosted Saturday Night Live, complete with a Williams cameo. Life had changed dramatically. A year earlier, Williams was working on some short films, juggling acting classes and his server job at a suburban Old Spaghetti Factory, trying to save up some money for a vacation, he told me.
And now? He’s one of the most recognizable stars in the world.
‘I’m doing relatively good. I’m learning all throughout this,’ Williams said during an interview that day on set. We were sitting in an improvised green room on the mansion’s top floor, Williams dressed in his character’s crisp white shirt. ‘In the beginning, it was really hard during the blow-up. The good moments are absolute highs, but the lows are weird lows that I hadn’t experienced before because it’s foreign territory. The lows don’t feel like regular emotions. The whole Earth feels different.’
‘There is nothing that really prepares you for the weird intricacies of celebrity,’ he continued. ‘It feels completely foreign.’ He talked about meeting thousands of people, shaking endless hands, fans throwing themselves at him. ‘It’s sweet, but it changes how you just walk down the street.’ The other day, he told me, he went out for what should have been a five-minute walk and was stopped about twelve times. So many new people but so few chances for true, organic connection. ‘But now I feel like I know the muscle that can engage with all these different things is growing and getting better,’ he said.

the way even the most self-proclaimed progressive people, regardless of whether they're also marginalized or not, dehumanize disability and disabled people is always so eye-opening. it's ironically very "your existence makes me uncomfortable so I refuse to acknowledge you"
someone on this show asked the literal president of france why he married the teacher that groomed him as a student...... and u lot are already starting discourse that this q should be off limits/is staged or planned by some pr boogeyman rather than a curious neurodivergent dude
that being said, i will def be deleting this app when it drops because whatever the answer to #that question is, at least two factions of this fandom will be unsatisfied and will react like emotionally unregulated toddlers
