Got a couple of DMs about this, so I got curious and went to check it myself.

I’m not a chart account and I don’t normally keep track of SEVENTEEN members’ solo/unit charting like that. But I’m a researcher before anything else, so obviously I ended up going down the rabbit hole

The question was basically: how have Mandarin albums and EPs by: Global K-pop, J-pop and C-pop artists actually performed on Billboard JAPAN’s Download Albums chart?

I kept the rule pretty simple: the release itself has to be entirely or predominantly in Mandarin. A Korean or Japanese album with one Chinese version or a song thrown in doesn’t count.

And I’m only looking at Billboard JAPAN Download Albums here not Oricon, physical sales, Hot Albums, iTunes, QQ Music, etc.

Also, this particular Billboard chart only goes back to October 2017, so anything released before that obviously can't have an entry here.

So I went through it.

(Important) I have a life to live and I probably missed someone somewhere, but these are the entries I could actually verify:

• 白色定格 (Eternal White) — #6

Solo artists
• JUN (SEVENTEEN) — 9 — #28

• LAY (EXO) — Winter Special Gift — #93

There are some obvious names people might bring up, Jackson Wang's MAGIC MAN(which is in English), Yuqi's YUQ1, etc, but I left them out because the releases themselves don't meet the Mandarin-language requirement.

And honestly, finding JUN’s 9 sitting at #28 was wild. It landed above both Jay Chou’s Greatest Works of Art (#32) and LAY’s LIT (#33), which means it currently holds the highest verified peak I could find for a Mandarin solo release on this chart.
