@michaelmiraflor@orenmeetsworld I’ve been to this show, and people would go crazy filling their bags with samples (often dashing between booths w/o even attempting to make fake small talk), so I imagine this rule is trying to curb that.
@michaelmiraflor@bluetopknot I’d agree if it was used in-store. The article says it’s for online purchases, and Costco doesn’t sell consumables online (they steer that business to Instacart), so it’s really intended for people buying appliances, electronics, et al.
@RosenZone Good tip! Some things I wonder:
- Will this only show on branded searches when Amazon doesn't have a direct selling relationship with the manufacturer (or strong 3P sellers)?
- What's in it for Amazon? Guessing data, plug assortment gaps, maybe affiliate $, but still why?
@airgups23@michaelmiraflor Worth pointing out that this shows one app’s ATTRIBUTED source of installs, not their percent of ad spend. Attribution became a mess after the iOS change.
@Shwinnabego They (inconsistently) allow the mobile-ready hero image format with size/qty guidelines—seems to help if the size icon is attached to the pack shot and not floating separate. They also allow the item to be shown out of packaging. One example below covering both.
@michaelmiraflor Surprised that they’re shuttering rather than selling it off. I get that a $150M biz is negligible for them, but that’s some good free cash flow with a loyal base for the right owner.
@DelRey This sign summarizes my thoughts on this news. Very sorry to hear it. Looking forward to the book and more writing for you wherever it comes from.
@michaelmiraflor Some share of liver is going to vodka-based drinks like High Noon or Fishers Island.
But seltzer is also a crowded category with some winners like White Claw emerging and some inevitable culling.
@lisamxu RTR is most likely working with BrandShare. They do samples in other company's ecomm shipments. Good for the retailer b/c it's a small revenue stream and value add for their shoppers. I see samples like this in my wife's Zulily orders all the time.
@mattahertz https://t.co/4XJWcknv6e based in Braintree Massachusetts has done this in the past; not sure if they’re still in the game or taking new clients since I last worked with them in 2019.
