News flash: Your job isn’t supposed to be EASY! It’s supposed to be restrained, heavy, and encumbered by the burden of proof, probable cause, the presumption of innocence, and always subject to OUR civil liberties!!!

A free society is not about making things convenient for the state, it’s about protecting the individual FROM the state. So many people have forgotten this.

It's what they quietly teach society to accept...

The gradual abandonment of one of the oldest traditions of a free society:

*The presumption of innocence.*

For centuries, free societies began with the premise that the individual is innocent until there is reason to believe otherwise.

Mass surveillance reverses that relationship.

*Guilty until proven innocent.*

Everyone is watched.
Everyone is cataloged.
Everyone is searchable.

Not because they've done something wrong, but because they *might* do something wrong someday.

This shift should concern us.

When the state records the movements of an entire population "just in case," the presumption of innocence is replaced by perpetual suspicion.

Rights become conditional.
Suspicion becomes the default.
Privacy becomes something you justify.

The script is always the same:

"For the greater good."
"If you have nothing to hide."
"It's worth it if it prevents crime."

The ends justify the means.
Collective safety over individual liberty.

Liberty no longer exists as a principle,
it survives only as a temporary permission.

Benjamin Franklin understood this in 1755:

"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

Technology changes.
Human nature doesn't.

Why am I so passionate and willing to burn all of my political capital for the sake of our nation’s veterans and restoring the VA?

Let me explain…

The VA is a foundational piece of the American government puzzle, and not many realize it. Much like the FBI and DOJ are key pillars holding up our democracy, the VA represents widespread trust in our Republic as a whole in a way that no other agency does.

When the Department of War asks for $1.5 trillion in defense spending, the request is predicated on making America’s military the most elite, revered, feared, and consequential force on planet Earth. The contract essentially says: “If you give us these hard-earned tax dollars, we will use them to revolutionize our military and take care of service members.”

It’s a reasonable ask so long as the second half of the question gets answered: “If we give you all this money for war efforts, what promises can you make for veterans who suffer debilitating injuries as a result of their service?”

As of right now, the Department of War, Congress, and the VA can’t answer that question because the care for those who sacrificed is terrible. Furthermore, they’re asked to fight their own government upon returning home just to receive the necessary care for a normal life after injury.

This will not fly any longer. @SecVetAffairs Collins is failing the DOW, the President, Congress, the American voter, and most importantly, veterans who are suffering. If we’re to have beautiful, safe cities, an elite military, a thriving manufacturing base, and trust in our institutions, reforming the VA must be at the absolute top of the priority list.

Look at what the President and Director Patel have done with the FBI in just 18 short months for an example of the reverberating effect of competent leadership and ambitious, unrelenting goals.

A 126-year low in violent crimes across America.

I will pound the table for veterans until this is done and bring it up in every conversation I have with President Trump going forward.

Knoxville Police Department’s contract with Flock expired on December 31, 2025. The cameras were shut off January 1, 2026.

KPD has since switched to Axon license plate readers. They now run 19 fixed Axon ALPRs (with 8 more coming) plus 30 mobile ones built into dash cams. The system feeds into their Real Time Information Center. KPD says it’s a closed system they control, data is kept only 30 days, and it takes still photos of plates — no facial recognition. Officers must visually verify any “hit” before acting. Different company. Same core technology: automated plate scanning and searchable vehicle data.

A sixth-generation farmer from Corryton representing District 8, Thompson has been one of the strongest voices pushing back. After residents contacted him with privacy concerns, Thompson called out the lack of transparency in a $1.57 million state Violent Crime Intervention Fund grant that was sold as crime reduction but turned into a planned countywide network of hundreds of Flock cameras. He and Mayor Glenn Jacobs have both said the technology erodes constitutional liberties and does not belong in Knox County without far stronger oversight. The $1.57 million grant, the planned Flock expansion of cameras, and the Advanced Research & Communications Center are all Knox County Sheriff’s Office projects.

This funding for the planned expansion comes entirely from Tennessee’s Violent Crime Intervention Fund, a state grant administered by the Office of Criminal Justice Programs. The Knox County Commission accepted the full amount on November 7, 2025, with no local match required. There are no other funding sources involved — it is 100% state taxpayer money, collected from Tennesseans statewide and redistributed through this grant program.

The Cash for Clunkers program, which Congress passed in June 2009 and burned through its $3 billion budget in under two months, destroyed functional wealth on a national scale, and somehow they called it "stimulus."

The mechanics were simple: trade in a working car, receive up to $4,500 toward a new one, and watch government employees pour sodium silicate into the old engine to make it seize permanently. Around 700,000 vehicles got crushed. These were not rusted-out death traps. The eligibility rules required the trade-in to be drivable and insured. You were watching the state systematically annihilate usable capital because Keynesian demand theory told it that destruction generates recovery. Frederic Bastiat explained why this is wrong in 1850, in an essay short enough to read on your lunch break. Congress ignored it.

The ripple effect hit people the government never mentioned in its press releases. Mechanics lost repair work. Used-car dealers watched their inventory evaporate. Low-income buyers who depend on the sub-$5,000 market faced prices that jumped roughly 10% in the years after the program. Free market economists call this "seen versus unseen." Politicians only showed you the gleaming new Chevy Malibu driving off the lot. They never showed you the single mother in Akron who needed a $3,000 Corolla and found nothing affordable left on the lot.

Even the environmental justification collapsed under basic scrutiny. A 2009 study by Resources for the Future calculated that the program cost between $237 and $365 per ton of carbon dioxide reduced. The voluntary carbon credit market at the time priced a ton around $10 to $20. The government spent up to thirty times the market rate to achieve an environmental outcome the market was already pricing far more efficiently.

This is what central planning always does. It takes your money, destroys real assets, and transfers wealth from the poor to auto manufacturers and their financiers. The program's designers received awards. The Akron mother paid higher prices. The engines sat crushed in junkyards. Nobody in Washington answered for any of it.

I have been dealing with left frozen shoulder issues since Jan. At my rehab massage yesterday, the therapist asked if I had any left hip pain to which I replied “only after squats.” Come to find out it is due to my lat not working properly bc of shoulder.
