Thank you SO much to the @OttawaCitizen & @ctvottawa for coming to our home & covering our tragic story. Our brother-in-law has so much support & now you guys will create even more! We are so entirely grateful
@ottawasuncom This accident had nothing to do with him not following road rules. He was hit from behind while biking to work. There were no lights on the road to control traffic. He was just peacefully biking down renaud rd.
We're praying, & hoping that they give us the only thing we want for him. TIME! We aren't asking or expecting them to wave a wand & wake him up. We are asking for simply just time!!
100 years ago, people said cardiopulmonary resuscitation & organ transplants were impossible.
On Wednesday, August 7th, a cyclist was hit by a car during his morning commute to work. The driver hit him from behind, & he hit the windshield, then the road. That cyclist is my brother-in-law.

Currently the Ottawa CTV news crew is covering the story, as well as the Ottawa Citizen/Sun newspaper, because this story needs to be heard. The law put in place 2 years ago regarding brain death is absurd. There are people whom have recovered.
After speaking with a few different specialists & other professionals, I was informed that a diagnosis of that severity was being done awfully early in. The doctor wanted to pull the plug on the life support that same day.
He survived the trip to the hospital, the 4 hour surgery to stop the brain bleed, & now he lays in a hospital bed on life support. Just a mere 48 hours after the accident, & surgery, the doctors decided to test & declare him brain-dead.
He suffered from a closed head injury, which ultimately was a brain bleed that needed surgical attention. An off-duty cop at the time was near by & jumped in to start safety measures. Paramedics arrived & this all began.

Most of my ottawa friends have probably already heard through the news, social media, & radio but there was a cyclist that got hit by a car yesterday on Renaud Road. That was my fiance's brother. Please send prayers his way, he's in a coma fighting for his life.
