Yesterday, I met with the National Publishers Association of Nigeria (NPAN) to strengthen our partnership in producing and distributing high-quality instructional materials for Nigeria’s basic education schools.

We discussed ongoing reforms under the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI) and the urgent need to address the learning crisis, where over 40% of our children struggle with basic reading and writing.

UBEC remains committed to supporting states, enforcing strict quality standards, and ensuring every child has access to the tools they need to learn effectively. Together, we are building a stronger foundation for education in Nigeria.

Today, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of women everywhere. At the Universal Basic Education Commission, we remain committed to expanding access to quality education for every girl, because empowering girls through education builds stronger communities and a brighter future for our nation.

I received a debriefing on the World Bank Implementation Support Mission in Oyo State, led by the World Bank Task Team Lead, Mr. Shinsaku Nomura, and the National Project Coordinator of BESDA-AF, Mr. Aleshin Mayowa.

The engagement reviewed the progress made under the BESDA-AF project and outlined practical strategies to address the remaining gaps as the project approaches completion.

I appreciate the continued support of the World Bank and commend the NPC and the entire team for their commitment to repositioning the project and ensuring it delivers on its mandate for the Nigerian child.
