Medical Incident Command
Delivered by @Salehing1 Salih Alwathinani, with extensive experience in EMS incident management
An in-depth discussion on command structures, coordination, and decision-making during major medical incidents.
This week at KSU-FEMS, we explored key domains of EMS Operations through a series of focused academic sessions delivered by our faculty and fellows.
Below are the main topics and speakers:
Crime Scene Awareness
Delivered by Ahmed Alsaidani, Chief Fellow @a7_ssd
Focused on the role of EMS in scene safety, evidence preservation, and minimizing contamination during patient care.
Air and Ground Ambulance
Delivered by Dr. Abdulaziz Alrabiah @azizalrabiah
A comprehensive overview of operational integration, response strategies, and coordination between air and ground EMS systems.
Advanced & Invasive Monitoring
The Academic Day concluded with a session delivered by the Program Director,@Althunayyans , focusing on arterial line monitoring, with emphasis on waveform interpretation, clinical indications, and its role in advanced hemodynamic assessment.
The Academic Day of the King Saud University Emergency Medical Services Fellowship Program was held on December 30, 2025, in the presence of the Program Director, Dr. Saqer Althnayan @Althunayyans , as part of the program’s structured academic curriculum.
Important Labs in Prehospital Care
The Important Labs in Prehospital Care session focused on key laboratory markers that support early risk stratification and guide downstream clinical decisions, even when results are unavailable in the field.
The Syncope session highlighted the clinical classification of syncope into reflex, cardiac, and orthostatic causes, emphasizing that cardiac syncope represents the highest-risk category in prehospital assessment.
The WGR concluded with the final scheduled lecture, “STEMI vs STEMI Mimics,” delivered by the Fellowship Program Director @althunayyans, providing a high-yield clinical synthesis and reinforcing critical ECG decision-making in emergency and prehospital care.
This week’s KSU-FEMS Weekly Grand Round (WGR) was held in the presence of the Dean @almobrad and the Fellowship Program Director @althunayyans, delivering a focused academic program addressing high-impact renal and cardiac emergencies relevant to EMS practice.
Dialysis & Its Complications
This session covered dialysis modalities and common complications, highlighting early recognition and EMS management considerations.
Presented by: Amjad
Electrolyte Emergencies
A focused review of Hyperkalemia and Hypokalemia, emphasizing ECG changes, risk stratification, and time-critical interventions in emergency settings.
Presented by: Ghazi
Grateful to @azizalrabiah for his distinguished contribution to this week’s KSU-FEMS Grand Round.
His precise, evidence-driven teaching added measurable value to our cardiology program and strengthened the academic direction of the fellowship.
We were honored to host @azizalrabiah in this week’s KSU-FEMS Grand Round.
His contributions brought exceptional clarity and depth to our cardiology block.
#KSU_FEMS#EMS#Cardiology
Dr. Alrubaia’s sessions on Dysrhythmia Management and Clinical ECG Interpretation set a strong academic benchmark, translating complex cardiology concepts into practical EMS decision-making.
Aortic Dissection – Presented by Saleh
Saleh presents Aortic Dissection, emphasizing diagnostic red flags, BP control principles, and transport considerations in one of the most time-critical cardiovascular emergencies.
This week in the KSU-FEMS about Cardiology , our fellows are engaging in a structured series of high-acuity cardiac topics designed to strengthen prehospital decision-making and refine advanced clinical judgment in EMS practice.
Heart Failure – Presented by Naif
Naif discusses acute heart failure, highlighting hemodynamic assessment, classification, and EMS interventions that stabilize respiratory and circulatory function during the prehospital phase.
Rayan opens the cardiology series with Acute Coronary Syndromes, focusing on early ECG recognition, risk stratification, and prehospital management strategies essential for reducing time-to-reperfusion and improving outcomes.
