🧠 New Nature Communications paper on early Alzheimer’s pathology.
Using a Femto3D Atlas two-photon microscope, the authors visualized noradrenergic axons in vivo and identified early loss of olfactory bulb innervation linked to sensory dysfunction.
A closer look at how early axon degeneration may contribute to one of the first signs of Alzheimer’s disease.

🧠 New preprint: “GluTrooper”
A novel reporter mouse line for large-scale in vivo imaging of glutamate dynamics across the brain.
Using a Femto3D Atlas system, the authors captured:
🔹 Large FOV recordings
🔹 Dense population activity
🔹 Fast glutamate transients
🔹 Stable long-duration imaging
A strong example of next-generation brain-wide functional imaging 🔬

New in EMBO Molecular Medicine:
A brief TIA can cause lasting brain dysfunction, even without detectable tissue damage.
Mechanism uncovered:
ATP surge → microglial P2Y12 activation → synapse loss & network dysfunction
Fig. 3B–C captures focal ATP bursts and rapid microglial recruitment in vivo within minutes after ischemia.
Imaged using a Femtonics two-photon system 🔬

Neurons are the celebrities.
Glia are the crew that makes the brain actually work.
Astrocyte: regulate & support synapses
Oligodendrocyte: speed up signals
Microglia: immune + cleanup
Plot twist: they don’t just support - they control the environment 🧠
