🚨 A Chinese national who organized pro-Palestinian demonstrations at UCLA, Liu Lijun, had her U.S. student visa revoked after the Trump administration began targeting foreign students involved in such activism.

The bigger story is China.

Beijing does not need to “care” about Palestine for the issue to serve its interests. Palestine has become a powerful wedge issue inside Western societies, dividing campuses, political parties and communities.

Researchers have documented networks tied to China-linked funding that have supported U.S. activist groups involved in post-Oct. 7 pro-Palestinian mobilization, while Chinese state media and online platforms have amplified anti-Israel narratives and, at times, antisemitic tropes.

The strategic logic is simple: the more divided the West becomes, the relatively stronger China becomes.

TikTok is one battlefield. Activist funding, information operations and narrative amplification are others.
