Colorado, Oregon, and Washington ban health claims in marijuana advertising.
70% of Seattle dispensaries made them anyway — including claims that marijuana treats CANCER and SEIZURES.
1/ NEW STUDY: Researchers audited 161 "regulated" marijuana dispensaries in LA, Vegas, Denver, Portland, and Seattle.
What they found should end the myth of the well-regulated marijuana market. Forever.
A thread. 🧵

Mayors, OKs biggest cities must take action on drug deaths. Add kratom to fentanyl & meth. Silence & inaction are costing lives.⬇️
BREAKING: Philadelphia City Council just voted 16-0.
Read that again.
16-0.
For years, we’ve been told there are “20 million kratom consumers” in America. We’ve been told kratom is overwhelmingly popular. We’ve been told politicians fear touching it.
Yet when one of the largest cities in the country considered this issue, only a handful of advocates showed up in person to defend it.
The industry’s message was clear:
“Don’t ban natural kratom.”
“Only extracts are the problem.”
“Natural leaf is safe.”
Council heard those arguments.
Council heard the testimony.
Council heard the pleas.
Then every single member voted YES.
Not one councilmember was persuaded.
I have listened to these same talking points for over two years.
Today, Philadelphia listened too.
The result?
16-0.
If there are truly 20 million passionate kratom consumers, where were they?
Because when one of America’s largest cities took up the issue, the vote wasn’t close. It wasn’t divided.
It was unanimous.
16-0.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear issued an executive order to clarify medical cannabis questions and add 15 qualifying conditions to the state program. Previously, the program only covered six conditions, including cancer, chronic pain, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, chronic nausea, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Between 1983 and 1988, crack cocaine was linked to 3,466–6,057 deaths across 25 major metro areas. From 2020 to 2024, kratom was linked to 5,208 deaths.
So why is one remembered as a national drug crisis while the other is sold at gas stations with cartoon branding?
"Weed is not medicine. We will regret that vote. We will regret that decision. This is not going to be good for children and generations of children..."
Thank you for standing up for the truth about marijuana, @USRepMikeFlood!

You cannot see, smell, or taste illicit fentanyl. What looks normal can contain a deadly amount without any warning signs at all.

"[Pop] goes through some things we can't even imagine. I need to call him. I need to see him, talk to him. There's no way I can understand how he feels. When I talk to him, it's gonna be only a story in my head, except if I record it in secret. I need to talk him so quick."
