23. Companies should not be publishing manifestos on how our societies should operate and function. The act of private companies attempting to take on the role of government and/or policy construction should be seen as a threat to national security and the Western way of life.
Unless Palantir or others are willing to accept direct democratic oversight and accountability, they should remain entirely outside of the realm of policy formation or decision-making.
We are a freedom-loving people with values, principles, and rights that are not gifted to us by government, or corporations, or narcissistic drug addicts suffering from god complexes.
If corporations will not or cannot understand this, and stand in support of fundamental Western values (free speech, privacy, individual liberty, etc.) they should be broken up or temporarily nationalised in order to bring them back under direct democratic accountability and control, and until new laws and/or constitutional amendments can be made to protect free citizens from infringements on their god-given rights.
BREAKING: According to our analysis, ~$920 million worth of crude oil shorts were taken 70 minutes before an Axios report claimed the US and Iran were near a "14-point" deal to end the war.
At 3:40 AM ET today, nearly 10,000 contracts worth of crude oil shorts were taken without any major news.
This is equivalent to ~$920 million in notional value, an unusually large trade for 3:40 AM ET.
At 4:50 AM ET, just 70 minutes later, Axios reported that the US is "close" to a "memorandum of understanding" to end the Iran War.
By 7:00 AM ET, oil prices had fallen over -12% with these crude oil shorts gaining approximately +$125 million.
Minutes later, Iran launched the "Persian Gulf Strait Authority" and oil prices surged +8%.
What just happened?
We know the blockade won't collapse Iran's economy because it has been tried before... by Trump!
Iranian crude oil exports fell to zero during the second half of 2019, storage filled up, and Iran rolled back production of both crude oil and refined fuels by about half. Meanwhile, Iran was experiencing significant supply chain disruptions, job losses, and demand contraction because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was a multi-faceted crisis, not unlike the one facing the country today.
Even so, the economy limped along for about a year until oil exports began a slow recovery. Today oil production is back at the pre-sanction levels.
The blockade was never going to cause enough pain in a short enough time to tilt negotiations in Trump's favor. Things are pretty evenly poised and that is exactly why a deal is possible.
An Iranian expert says Iran is able to reduce production without having difficulty with storage.
“Iran can balance production, storage, export and domestic production in a way that doesn’t need to shut down oil wells… Iran’s petroleum industry won’t allow oil wells sit idle.”
🚨 Saudi Finance Minister EXPOSES the oil price :
“You see $90 on the screen… good luck buying a barrel at that price.”
Real price? $120–$160/barrel.
The biggest gap between perception and reality in energy markets — ever.
