A common criticism of prior work comparing laparoscopic vs robotic cholecystectomy has been that much of the data reflected an early adoption era, when many surgeons were still on the learning curve. In our new @JAMASurgery research letter, we used more contemporary national claims data (2020–2023) to reassess comparative safety. While the effect size was smaller than prior reports, robotic cholecystectomy remained associated with approximately 2-fold higher rates of bile duct injury compared with laparoscopy. https://t.co/JJ4ZYpoA3J
