If Lindsay Clancy beats this case, we have to look at the justice system and ask “Why do excuses work for some people and not others?”

She murdered three children. How can you possibly just say “she was experiencing mental issues” after such heinous act?

I swear to fucking god, I am at an absolute loss for words over the destruction at work here. I grew up in the 80s and 90s; I believed in feminism then. All I wanted was the *opportunity* to become whatever I dreamed of - and I GOT it. We all did! By the early 90s, the sky was the limit for capable people of any race or sex. The world wasn't perfect, but it was damn-near halcyon days for equality [of opportunity].

The last decade has not been kind to those hard-won gains (no need for a long rant on that, but *gestures at world*). But now, this minority of absolute psychotic women is going to destroy everything we fought for and won.

The worst part? I can't even disagree with those saying this whole spectacle proves women can't be trusted with positions of power or responsibility. The amount of shame I feel for my gender is horrifying. I know it's not all women, or even a majority - but it's apparently more than just a few attention-hounds mugging for the camera, too.

And I genuinely do not understand how we got here. Or maybe I do, but, again, no need for that long rant; better to say that I can't believe we're here, and I am heartbroken over it (however, this former attorney will nonetheless manage to "emotionally handle" it). FFS.

All of a sudden, I’m seeing commercials about how difficult motherhood is and how terrible postpartum depression is.

I had postpartum depression. It was an absolute drag, but you can be damn sure nothing, no matter how bad it got would have given me, even the slightest thought of taking the life of my little baby.
