The King and Queen, joined by members of the Royal Family, have attended a Service for the Most Noble Order of the Garter at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.
📜 Established by King Edward III nearly 700 years ago, The Order of the Garter is the oldest and most senior Order of Chivalry in Britain.
Companions of the Garter are chosen personally by the Sovereign to honour those who have held public office, who have contributed in a particular way to national life or who have served the Sovereign personally.
1. This statement contains several inaccurate or confused claims.
First, Edwards says the bill is only for those “at the very end of their lives.”
But the bill’s “6-month prognosis” criterion is very broad: 1 in 5 of those eligible will actually have at least 3 years to live.
In Anglo-Saxon architecture, Roman stone meets a timber way of thinking: stone becomes articulated into the Saxon timber-centric world view. I suppose, in this way, it is also a memory as well as a material. Here at All Saints', Earls Barton. 📸 my own.

'Misty Morning, River Thurne, Norfolk,' (c1960) is a striking example of Edward Seago's mastery of watercolour, a work in which you can sense the magic of being on the river just after the break of dawn - a sense of timelessness.
Old Tom irked me a bit when I read the books as a boy, mainly because of all the songs. He seemed too silly; I wanted to get back to the heroes, the quest, the action. But as I'm older, there's an unfolding profundity in that character. He's a kind of holy fool, and like most holy fools turns out to be the wisest of all.
And let's remember the purpose for which this was made:
"As an architect ardent in faith, the venerable Antoni Gaudí conceived these spaces, wanting to recount the mysteries of the Lord's life: in this way he proposed to us a spiritual pilgrimage, which leads to the encounter with Christ born, died, and risen for us.
Together with Gaudí , commemorating the centenary of his death, we remember and thank this evening all the promoters and benefactors, the artists and craftsmen who collaborated in building an architectural masterpiece that is also an eloquent catechesis made of stone, color, and light.
In her wisdom, the Church thus renews the Biblia pauperum of the ancient cathedrals, which are themselves rich messages of evangelization. In this temple of images, it becomes even more evident how art and beauty are eminent channels of evangelization."
-Leo XIV, homily
Behold: new and previously unseen imagery from our Artemis II mission!
These images were captured on April 6, 2026, when the four astronauts aboard the Orion spacecraft conducted the lunar flyby portion of their ten-day journey.
When will it sink in? A sovereign country with nearly a thousand years of history is being abolished in a slow-motion revolution. I warned of this nearly 30 years ago, and all I got was mockery and patronising sneers.
The cultural consciousness would improve if we stopped saying "pregnant" and went back to saying "with child". We need to retrain the collective subconscious through discourse that it is actually a child, your child, not a clinical condition.
