James Van Der Beek just passed from colorectal cancer, which has the second highest treatment cost of any cancer. Last year he auctioned off memorabilia from his tv and film career in order to pay for the staggering costs of his treatment
His family is now left to deal with the burden of his passing, both emotionally and financially.
US health care is THE most expensive globally and medical debt is still the number one reason for personal bankruptcy in this country. Millions of Americans (which include successful 90s television actors) are struggling every day under this for profit system that is designed to continuously reap enormous profits for the multi billion dollar companies within it. James’ family should not have to worry about staying financially afloat as they mourn his loss, just as no family or individual should face the reality of being one medical emergency away from losing everything.
I know there is a significant overlap between UConn and Patriots fans and I don’t want you to think that we don’t feel your frustration tonight. Not only do we feel it, but we’re enjoying it immensely. This is wonderful. Absolutely wonderful.
Never cease to be amazed by how many of my colleagues would prefer to pick the 12-team field before the season starts and then just let the season determine what seeds those 12 teams get.
I have so much contempt and loathing in my heart for everyone who laundered this drooling neocon moron and the “people” around him as doves of any kind.
