It’s Econ 101, you either have to raise revenue significantly, cut spending, significantly. Or both.

Talarico committed to support the Break Up Big Medicine Bill. That was a pre requisite for my doing the event with him this week.

If this Hawley/ Warren bill passes, we would reduce the deficit. We would cut costs for patients. Drug pricing would drop like a rock.

Yet not a word from you in support Ted. Why ?

A true capitalist would understand how these economics work. They wouldn’t ignore the fact that our debt levels pull money away from business. And consumers.
If you truly want to do what is best for business, and the economy, we are going to have to raise taxes and cut spending.

The best place to cut spending is by removing the HealthCare middlemen that are Too Big To Care, which is exactly what the Break Up Big Medicine Bill does

You ready to whip up support among republicans ? Or do you prefer people dying because they can’t afford care , and the economy continuing to slow down because we are having to print money to financial engineer our debt obligations.

The reasoning here from @Burgin4Senate makes good sense: nonprofit hospitals are exempt from paying many taxes, which makes North Carolinians de facto shareholders, so NCians should get a say over executive pay.

The big question: doesn't that reasoning apply equally to @DukeEnergy?

Their corporation is for-profit, but gifted a highly lucrative legal monopoly by those same people of North Carolina. In a very similar sense, NCians are very much shareholders in Duke Energy. Should they not get to set limits on executive pay? After all, our dollars pay for it.

I feel strongly about this: journalists have an ethical responsibility to call these election lies what they are. Ofelia Torres has died at 16, of cancer. As she was dying the Chicago teen fought for her father's release from immigration detention. 3 days before she died, an immigration judge ruled that her father was conditionally entitled to receive cancellation of removal, which could provide a pathway to a green card.

This was her message to ICE: “To the ICE agents who smashed my dad's window, to the ICE agent who pointed a gun at my dad, I'm not mad at you ... I just want you to know that that was not the right thing to do.”

@RepLuna Misleading framing. People aren’t “siding with criminals.” They’re opposing a government picking which laws it follows, especially when U.S. citizens are also detained, mistreated, or killed. Supporting ICE officers and due process isn’t contradictory, it’s constitutional.
