this is textbook habituation, DO NOT FEED WILD ANIMALS, DO NOT INVITE THEM INTO YOUR HOME. and don't let your cats outside because it WILL become food, ESPECIALLY after you do this
Domestic cats are NOT native to any ecosystem, so they’re NOT part of "nature". These are not normal predator-prey interactions that happen in a healthy ecosystem & cats should not be allowed to roam freely to prey on wildlife (or encounter dangers free roaming puts on cats).
CW: death, animal suffering
We want to talk about the consequences of outdoor cats. In the next post will be a video of a bird that was caught by a cat that has no blood or obvious injury, but is very obviously struggling. It may be hard to see, but some of you need to see it 🧵

The loss of specimens, even less popular ones like centipedes, is a setback for science. Holotypes, which define entire species, are especially valuable and hard to replace. https://t.co/X6mQnEsMR0

A campaign against transgender rights has mobilized the Republican Party. How did that happen? Listen to today's episode of The Daily.

The National Audubon Society is facing a backlash after announcing plans to keep its name linked to enslaver John James Audubon. The decision outraged employees, prompted an uncomfortable all-staff meeting and drove 3 board members to resign in protest.

Happy National Wildlife Rehabilitators Appreciation Day! #EverythingButTheBirdFriday
Our mission wouldn't be possible without these incredible people! Thank you to all who've given many animals a second chance at life in the wild. 💙
**This outing is reserved for people who identify as disabled, chronically ill, or neurodivergent and their family, friends or caregivers. Our accessible outings are made for and led by birders with disabilities.**
Join us for an accessible birding outing at Whitaker Ponds on March 25! We’ll look for early songbirds, woodpeckers, ducks, and even some raptors as we traverse by foot or wheelchair throughout the natural area.
Beginner birders are welcome!

my sister and i went to the dentist and i was misgendered literally the entire time to the point of being extremely upset about it. she stood up for me and when she got home posted an infographic on her instagram about respecting people's pronouns.
someone came to clean our rugs after a category five Dog Incident. my mom is pretty friendly with him and reminded him of my pronouns when he got here, and he said he remembered and that he'd been practicing in the car on the way over. i barely know him and he still did that.
Any trans people have nice little stories of gender affirmation or just being a good ally from cis people?
One of my faves is when we had a work retreat with my office, and the plan was to have a house for the boys and a house for the girls.
my mom doesn't use facebook anymore so she got all of the photo posts turned into little albums because there's a lot of memories on there. basically all of those photos are from before i came out/when i was a baby. she went through with a labelmaker to fix my deadname.
