ندعم قرار الحكومة إعلان محافظة بيروت منزوعة السلاح. كما ندعم نهج الحكومة اللبنانية في مسار التفاوض، لا من باب الاصطفاف السياسي، بل انحيازاً واضحاً لفكرة لبنان، الدولة السيدة، القادرة، والمسؤولة عن شعبها. ندعم التفاوض من موقع المصلحة الوطنية، من أجل وقف الحرب، وتثبيت الاستقرار، وفتح أفق ��ديد للبنانيين.

ليس التفاوض ضعفاً، بل شجاعة حين يصبح استمرار النزيف مقتلة للبنان واللبنانيين. وما تقوم به الدولة اللبنانية اليوم، من خلال فتح باب التفاوض، ليس تنازلاً عن السيادة كما يحلو للبعض تصويره، بل محاولة جدية لاستعادتها. فالدولة التي تفاوض هي الدولة التي قررت ان تحصر كل السلاح بيدها و أن تكون هي المرجع الوحيد في قرار الحرب والسلم.

وقّعتُ ورئيس الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت فضلو خوري، مذكرة تفاهم من خلال "منصة التواصل مع القطاع العام" GEP، وتسعى الى وضع إطار شامل لتعاون طويل الأمد، ضمن الالتزام المشترك بتعزيز القطاع الصناعي في لبنان وصنع سياسات قائمة على الأدلة ودعم الابتكار وبناء القدرات المؤسسية.

وأكدتُ أهمية التفاعل بين الشباب والمعرفة وتحقيق الأثر القابل للقياس، فهذه الشراكة تفتح المجال أمام الشباب للمشاركة في مسار التحول الصناعي. وأوضحتُ أن تقييم القطاع الصناعي يجب أن يستند إلى نتائج ملموسة، لذا ستكون الجامعةُ الأميركية في بيروت شريكًا لدعم هذه العملية عبر البحث العلمي والابتكار وتوفير الأدلة المعرفية اللازمة.

بدوره، شدّد رئيس الجامعة على الأهمية الاستراتيجية لتطوير القطاع الصناعي لمستقبل لبنان، مشيراً إلى أن لبنان يمتلك الأسس اللازمة لبناء نظام صناعي قوي، إلا أن وتيرة التقدم لم تواكب مسار التصنيع في المنطقة. وقال: "إذا أردنا خدمة المجتمع فعلياً، فإن تطوير القطاع الصناعي يشكل ضرورة أساسية، إذ يمكن للصناعة أن تكون منصة لجذب الاستثمار. ويجب أن يكون بلدنا المستفيد الأول من المواهب والمعرفة والقدرات المتاحة لديه".

At the U.S. Department of State in #Washington, D.C., a policy meeting was held with Deputy Assistant Secretary, Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, Jacob McGee and Lebanon Desk Officer Quinn Rask, alongside the Lebanese-American Coordinating Committee (#LACC).
The discussion centered on full implementation of the Lebanese #Constitution, restoration of #State_Sovereignty and exclusive control of arms, structural economic-social reform, safeguarding democratic institutions and constitutional timelines
The meeting reaffirmed sustained U.S. support for the #Lebanese_Armed_Forces and #Internal_Security_Forces as the sole legitimate security institutions responsible for #National_Security and #State_Sovereignty.
It also emphasized strengthening the Lebanese–American partnership in advancing #Freedom, #Diversity, #Institutional_Accountability, and #Democratic_Governance.
