Some people see a pet as an “extra,” but for many families, they’re a source of comfort, routine, and emotional support.

A few days ago, someone brought us a bag of tiny puppies. 💔

They were far too young to survive without their mother.

We could not leave them behind.

But we knew we had to find their mum.

For two days, our team searched for her.

Every time we got close, she ran away in fear.

She had spent her whole life learning that people were something to fear.

Meanwhile, her puppies waited safely at our shelter, receiving round-the-clock care.

Then we found her.

Alone.

Searching through rubbish for something to eat.

Her body was on the streets, but her heart was still with her babies.

So our team brought the puppies with them.

The moment she heard their cries, everything changed.

A mother's love became stronger than her fear.

She came to her babies...

And together they were finally reunited. ❤️

Today this little family is safe.

No more searching for food in rubbish.

No more fear.

No more struggling to survive.

And when her puppies are old enough, she will be sterilised.

Her last litter.

Because no mother should have to raise litter after litter on the streets.

This lovely girl still has so much life, love and adventure left to give. Despite being a senior, Sasha is full of energy and enthusiasm. As a typical Lakeland x Patterdale Terrier, she absolutely loves getting out and about, exploring the world with her nose and taking in all the exciting scents on her walks. She may be 9 years old, but don't tell Sasha that—she's still ready for plenty of adventures!

New boy Teddy arriving at our kennel-free rescue. And look who was in the welcoming committee. Chip the dog who was hit over the head with a claw hammer and thrown in a bin to die. Before Chip headed off on a lovely home foster he showed Teddy this was a safe place.
