It's funny (sad funny not haha funny) that we might be witnessing the death of film festivals in real time. At this point, I'm not sure they deserve to survive.
Should Festivalists return with a new, text-mostly, property hosted website offering solid credentials for independent writers free to cover niche events, and if so how can we fund this?
As there are fewer and fewer places even to pitch niche film coverage, self-publishing becomes almost a necessity. But it’s much harder to get press credentials or screeners that way. What does that mean for art on the fringes of the festival world/not commercially viable?
Special programme announcement! Legendary screenwriter and director FELIX CHONG will join LEAFF on 24th October 2024 at 11:30am at Electric Cinema for a talk!
