We were honored to host a Public Lecture on Storytelling in Film and Journalism, bringing together students, media practitioners, and guests for an insightful and engaging discussion on the power of storytelling in shaping society.
The event also marked the official launch of the #TakeYourChildToAfrica campaign, a youth-centered cultural and film initiative designed to connect young people with identity, heritage, community, and purpose through storytelling, cultural exchange, and creative engagement..
Participants had the privilege of learning from distinguished guest speakers Steven Noah and Casey Brooks, who shared their experiences, perspectives, and expertise in film, journalism, and creative storytelling. Their contributions inspired meaningful conversations and left attendees with valuable insights into the role of authentic narratives in media and society.

Mount Kigali University (MKU), Rwanda, has unveiled a landmark academic collaboration with Kenya’s Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) aimed at strengthening training in industrial and applied research.
The partnership will see the two institutions implement joint academic programmes, collaborative research initiatives, and faculty and student exchange programmes.

This morning marked yet another meaningful step forward, in investing in people and potential. Through our partnership with @MountKigaliUni , 23 caregivers from Imbuto Foundation supported #ECD centers, were awarded certificates in Early Childhood Development and Family (ECD&F).
The event also featured the presentation of a contribution of RWF 51 million from MKU’s Chairman, in support of 100 students under our #EdifiedGeneration scholarships programme, reaffirming a shared commitment to education and opportunity.

Today, our Founder @SimonNGicharu, joined @Imbuto Director General, @ElodieShami, in celebrating 23 dedicated caregivers from Imbuto-supported Early Childhood Development centres who successfully completed their professional ECD training. @SimonNGicharu used the occasion to reaffirm Mount Kigali University’s strong commitment to early childhood education in Rwanda. He highlighted the critical importance of building solid foundations during a child’s formative years and the value of continuous professional development for caregivers and educators.
In addition, the University made a further contribution to the Edified Generation Scholarship Programme, that will grant over 100 students access to quality education .
In partnership with @fojo_int , MKU hosted a 3-day training on stress and trauma management in journalism for Mass Media and Communication students. Students explored key topics from understanding burnout to building trauma-informed newsrooms, gaining essential skills to thrive in today’s demanding media environment.
Because impactful journalism goes beyond storytelling, it requires responsibility, integrity, and a strong sense of ethical awareness.
Today we completed a two-day Student Leadership Induction and Capacity Building Retreat @kparamounthotel , bringing together student leaders from across the university.
The program focused on enhancing governance, ethical leadership, teamwork, and communication skills, equipping participants to serve the university community responsibly and effectively.
This initiative underscores MKU’s commitment to nurturing competent, accountable, and future-ready leaders.
