Johnny Depp visits Japan for the first time in 8 and a half years. Fans at Haneda Airport rejoice: “He took photos with us like friends.”

American actor Johnny Depp arrived at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport on November 22 via private jet. This marks his first visit to Japan in 8 and a half years.

BuzzFeed Japan captured footage of Depp enjoying interactions with fans who rushed to the airport and published it on YouTube.

Depp appeared with his entourage, wearing a black jacket with jeans, a gray cap, a purple scarf, and sunglasses. When fans greeted him with loud cheers, he raised his hand in response and smiled warmly.

Afterward, he shook hands with fans dressed in cosplay as characters he played in films such as Pirates of the Caribbean and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He also posed for two-shot photos and signed autographs, showing friendly fan service.

Fans who met him shared their impressions:
•“I was so nervous, but I’m really happy I got to meet him.”
•“I was very excited, but he was really a nice person in person.”
•“He took photos with us like friends—it was wonderful.”

Depp left the airport in a black minivan but didn’t forget to wave at fans from the window.
