NEW: Boris Johnson awards Gavin Williamson a knighthood.

The top map shows which nations are most responsible for excess emissions. The bottom map shows which nations are most impacted by it. If we are not attentive to the colonial dimensions of climate breakdown, we are missing the point.
I have said this often, but it is worth repeating: Even if a (very) few plants DO grow better in a peat-based compost that does not justify peat extraction. A (very) small loss of quality in a garden does not EVER justify peat use.
The ruling elite are not going to voluntarily take the necessary steps to stop climate breakdown, and they are certainly not going to do it in a just and equitable way. The sooner we realise this fact, the better.
Perhaps instead of talking about rich people's net "worth", we should talk about their net *appropriation* — of human labour and our planet's resources.
