Bold claim but here is how
I received torrents of request from freelancers to review their profiles. Sadly, what I saw were empty and vague profiles that are often ignored by today's busy business owners. You will struggle to make a dime with such Profiles.
" I am an experienced graphic designer"
"I am a versatile SEO writer"
" I will write the best copy for your website"
None of these is really “saying” anything unique about your service.
These profile descriptions can be adopted by any freelancer. And, to make matters worse, not one of these cute little “feel-good”phrases will pass the “Who Cares?” Test! Not even one!
Tragic
About 99% of your prospects need “meaningful specifics”…instead of “vague generalities”… to make a buying decision.
They need to be told why they should choose you Over the other freelancers. And profiles –especially the ones above – won’t do that.
So how do you tell people why they should choose you over everyone else? And how do you accomplish this in a fast, punchy way in your profile descriptions (fiverr and upwork inclusive?
The answer is simple.
All you have to do is to create a “Unique Selling Proposition.”
The Unique Selling Proposition (or USP for short) answers the question:
“Why should I do business with you, and not the other guy?”
It’s the one single thing only you are capable of doing (or willing to do) for your customer none of your “competitors” can or will.
A really hot USP will force your prospect to peel his lazy can off the couch, search around frantically for the "Order Now" button on your page…
So how, you ask, do you create your own totally irresistible USP?
Try this:
Pretend you had to sell your product or service door-to-door. No phones. No faxes. No emails. No newspapers. No Facebook ads. No classified ads. No nothing. Just hitting the streets and slugging it out door-to-door.
And the only advantage you have is the people whose doors you knock on have made it known they might be interested in purchasing a product or service you are selling.
And so...when the door opens...you have about 3 seconds to say what you have to say before the guy slams the door on your face, grabs the shotgun and tells you to get the hell off his property.
Now, what’s the one single most important thing about your business you would say to get him to - instead of slamming the door in your face - actually open the door for you and say…
“Really? How do you do that???”
Would you blurt out some dorky slogan like “I am the best copywriter ”?
Or would you pack your best reason, offer or benefit of doing business with you into one tightly-packed phrase that makes buying from you truly irresistible?
Think about it.
What makes you unique?
There has to be something. Something that defines your business And if there really is nothing unique about your business – that separates you from the rest of the crowded marketplace – then you need to create an offer, condition or deal only you are willing to offer and...Make Your Business Unique!
Your USP can be like:
I will write 5 articles on weight loss with FREE SEO audit of your website....
Many weight loss trainers spend thousands of dollars on their SEO..a free SEO audit of their websites is a Huge takeaway.
There are many free websites to SEO-audit a website Graphic designers can use an editable template
Wordpress developer can use Free SEO of their service page
There has to be something...something that other freelancers aren't ready to do
But you are ready to give your clients. Something rare..so rare but you are giving out for free
