A teammate who holds you accountable, keeps you focused, & tells you the complete honest truth is so much better than a teammate who watches silently as your bad habits, bad attitude/selfishness affect your game, the team, everything around you. Real teammates never sit silently!
Call me crazy but I think a small ball team, built around speed and defense could win in MLB right now (and be cheap)

Coachability is one of the most underrated traits. If you find good coaches and fully commit yourself to them, you are bound to succeed, even if you lack natural talent.
Academic All State is was released today! Congrats to our varsity athletes who have earned an unweighted GPA of 3.75 or higher!
Also a big congrats to our entire team for being an Academic All State team with an overall 3.61 team GPA!
1 DAY until the chase for one of these begins in 2023. In terms of winning percentage, the Southeast Missouri softball has been the winningest program in the last seven years with a .569 clip. Over that time, the Redhawks accumulated 190 victories.
Coaches: Make it a habit to notice the “little things” players do. We tend to focus on stats or all the flashy things that are easy to see. But what about the “behind the scenes” stuff?
Athletes: Coaches will notice. Or at least the RIGHT coaches will notice. Keep grinding.

Well coached teams...back up bases, take the extra base, throw to the right place, play with class, make the routine play look routine, play with energy, take smart/tough/gritty at bats, line up correctly defensively. Your turn go, add to the list.
What a "Hitting Coach" Job Description should really look like:
- good communicator
- psychologist
- relationship & trust builder
- teacher
- translate complex ideas/info to simple/clearly
- growth mindset
- understand movement
“Swing Coach” is pretty far down the list.
Great leadership requires both words and actions. You can't just lead with your voice, and you can't just lead by example. You need to lead in both of these ways in order to provide others with inspiration and guidance.
