@DianaJA76 This is a really good point. I just want the new government to do something to give hope to the younger generation…student loans, job market, house prices. Can you imagine if we had all that to deal with? Don’t just make it about social media vids @andyburnham
@BethRigby Serious question Beth. Do you and the other seemingly Reform supporting media @ChrisMasonBBC@BBCWorld want to live under a Reform government? You’re intelligent people and can see the they can’t even run local councils, let alone a country. Why the constant push for them??
@MartinSLewis Maybe it’s 30g of Wotsits and 6g of optional orange dust at the bottom of the bag…depends on how messy you’re prepared to get your fingers
@MartinSLewis This is now far beyond the frozen repayment threshold Martin. I’m glad the whole student loan issue is in the media. It’s not about not paying for uni (I have 2 uni age kids) it’s the crippling interest. Still can’t believe @RachelReevesMP said out loud it was paying for the NHS!
@OliDugmore I find it *almost* funny that @UKLabour and @RachelReevesMP are doubling down on uni tuition fees being fair (or rather, the interest/repayment structure) at a time when there’s a real alternative for the ‘youth vote’ with the @thegreenparty. And votes for 16y/o coming
@DrSteveTaylor@RachelReevesMP@UKLabour I have two uni age kids. I don’t have a problem with them paying for it, it’s the rampant monetisation of the loan.
It’s so short sighted. A generation that will already struggle to own homes won’t pay into private pensions and face almost 50% tax if they get a good job
@AndyBurnhamGM That’s utter nonsense Andy. You absolutely have not thought about the best interests of the city region you represent. If this decision opens the door to Reform for either the seat or mayoral race, you’ll be done, which will be a shame. Do the job you were voted in to do instead
Please @AndyBurnhamGM, not now. Keep going with the valuable work you are doing to improve lives and livelihoods around Manchester. And if it opens the mayoral race to Reform, some people may never forgive you. Your time will come
@LabourfutureUK Can you start by doing something for young working people?
Crippling student loans, cost of housing/rent. It’s so shortsighted. We’ll have a generation with no savings and little in the way of pensions.
The monetization of student debt needs sorting asap.
@Apple There are families that rely on keeping older phones to hand down to kids (the value of older phones still being high) so WHY would you introduce and update (ISO 26) that won’t run on even an iPhone 12 without everything being slow and popular apps struggling #iso26
@m11ker@TheGreenParty@ZackPolanski I hope my kids are as fiscally responsible. They are both currently at uni so are in the wave of students paying higher interest, on (now) ever-increasing fees, not written off for 40 years. That said, I’m happy with their choice to go to uni
@dowden_amy misses a year due to cancer and had to step away in ‘24 due to injury and now you give her Tom Skinner as a partner. Hasn’t the girl been through enough?? @bbcstrictly
@GovPritzker All part of his plan to stay in power, which he can manipulate, if the US is ‘at war’. Just wouldn’t have thought it would be against itself
