If I had a nickel for every time a hobbled power hitter walked-off the Dodgers in game 1 of the World Series, I’d have 2 nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice right? #WorldSeries
@The_Ryan_Shull@Cardinals It takes more than two players to be successful. They were able to trade for two generational talents, but failed to build around them. They needed to build a strong foundation first before going after those big stars
@mushroom_maan@The_Ryan_Shull Also, seeing guys like O’Neill and Dejong go on to play better on other teams shows that there’s a fundamental flaw in the Cardinals organization that needs to be fixed before we can become a true competitor
@mushroom_maan@The_Ryan_Shull Randy Arozarena, Adolis Garcia, Sandy Alcantara and Luke Voit to name a few. Maybe not stars but they all went on to have some solid seasons with other teams after getting very little chance with the Cardinals, or were traded for short-term success.
@mushroom_maan@The_Ryan_Shull Our young guys have done decent, but still need a lot of development. The primary issue with the Cardinals is that they’ve been way too quick to trade away young talent. How many guys that the Cardinals have given away have turned into stars elsewhere?
@uh1ao@The_Ryan_Shull I think the Cardinals could do a lot of work around with the 1B/DH position. I think Baker, Burleson and Gorman are all viable options. Once Arenado’s gone the position should go to Walker, especially if he continues to struggle in RF
@kentallen112@The_Ryan_Shull Every team goes through periods of inadequacy. The fact that the Cardinals haven’t has been the problem. They keep on signing a few big stars here and there to stay competitive, but all they’ve been is mediocre. They won’t go anywhere unless they build up their young talent first
