🔥🔥In the WEF’s May 2026 AfCFTA implementation paper, ADAPT is not treated as a side project. It appears as Pillar 3 of the Forum Friends of the AfCFTA framework: digital trade infrastructure.

This is an implementation-focused paper on how Africa’s free trade area moves from legal ambition to operational reality: customs, standards, cross-border data, NTBs and trade corridors.

And ADAPT is being developed with the @AfCFTA Secretariat, WEF, Tony Blair Institute and IOTA Foundation, to build interoperable digital identity, cross-border data exchange and payment infrastructure for African trade.

We should use AI to simplify laws.

Laws in most countries are gigantic, patched, added, and often intentionally made complex over time (by lawyers). They are also often self-conflicting (great for long debates), and impossible to understand by a normal person. Implementing them (court cases) takes years.

Not against lawyers. But their time can be used on more productive things, like more business deals, more innovation, more progress.

Let me break things down 👇

IOTA Notarization
This is a new, open-source tool that lets you prove your data is real, unchanged, and time-stamped using the IOTA network.

As such you’ve got to not worry anymore about fake documents, missing files, or tampered records.

This is how it works:

1️⃣ A Prover uploads data to the IOTA network
2️⃣ This creates a secure notarized object with info like who owns it, when it was created, and if it’s been updated
3️⃣ The Prover shares this info with anyone who needs to verify it
4️⃣ A Verifier checks the IOTA ledger to see if the data is real
5️⃣ They confirm the details match and haven’t been tampered with
6️⃣ Then, it’s verified, tamper-proof, and trustless

This has been built with Move smart contracts and Rust/WASM libraries and it runs directly on the energy-efficient #IOTA Mainnet

Perfect Use case:
It is used for businesses, legal docs, identity, supply chains, and more

This is not just about storing data, it is rather about proving truth without relying on trust.

Move is 6 years old today! Creating a programming language and growing a vibrant developer community is a hard problem that requires long-term commitment.

I'm very proud of how far we've come with Move. It's the third largest smart contract language, and the fastest growing SC lang by active developers over the last two years. Most importantly to me, it has a hardcore group of fans who love the language and deeply identify with what it's trying to do.

Lots of work to do to extend the reach of Move, Sui, and crypto broadly to more problem domains. But we're off to a good start.

This is an incredibly proud moment for us at IOTA as we have officially launched the TWIN Foundation with our amazing partners.

Announced today in Zambia during the @AfCFTA Forum, what started out in Kenya together with Trademark Africa, is now evolving into a own standalone product and organization to establish a standardized solution to digitize trade.

We are here to solve one of the biggest problems: How to make it seamless to trade across borders. We are building the modern equivalent to bridges and roads, connecting societies and creating shared prosperity and opportunities for all. A public goods infrastructure that connects countries and creates a common shared layer of trust on which information and assets are exchanged. Built on IOTA.

With the TWIN Foundation established, we will now go into expansion mode and connect more countries to our infrastructure and become the standard solution on which trade is digitized. We are here to create real impact in the world.
