Welcome to the World Cup week 😍
Here are the key things to know about the 2026 FIFA World Cup which kicks off in just a few days:
When & Where:
The tournament runs from June 11 to July 19, 2026, with an estimated 104 matches played across the US, Mexico, and Canada — 16 host cities in total. This is the first time three nations have jointly hosted a men's World Cup.
Opening & Final:
The tournament opens on June 11 at the historic Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, a venue that has previously witnessed Pelé and Maradona in their prime. The final will be played at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, with every match from the quarter-final stage onwards held in the US.
Historic Scale:
A record 48 teams will compete, up from 32 teams which was the standard from 1998 to 2022.
Format & Groups:
The format changes too: eight groups become 12, with the top two from each advancing, plus the eight best third-place finishers.
New Rule: Mandatory Hydration Breaks
All World Cup matches will feature two hydration breaks approximately 22 minutes into each half, regardless of weather conditions — a change from the previous rule that only required breaks when temperatures exceeded 31°C at kickoff.
Tournament Debutants:
Cape Verde, Curaçao, Jordan, and Uzbekistan will all be making their World Cup debuts.
Title Contenders:
Argentina returns as reigning champions, while France are looking for revenge after losing the 2022 final. Spain and England are aiming for a second title, while Brazil chase a record sixth and Germany seeks their fifth.
Expected Impact:
Over six million fans are expected to fill seats across North America, with FIFA estimating a $40 billion economic boost across the three host countries, and a projected six billion viewers watching globally.

@Mrbankstips I already have a good number of business ideas waiting for execution and expansion... But i will take a 2 weeks vacation... I must then start executing my plans while on the vacation
Its so annoying with all the comparison with Bruno and Rice... Bruno was always outstanding when the team was under Amorim and he got better when Carrick came as manager... He just had a team that began converting goals....
🚨 🎙️Mikel Arteta on who the best midfielder in the world is right now:
“There are many top midfielders in football right now. You look at Rodri, Jude Bellingham, Kevin De Bruyne, Federico Valverde, Bruno Fernandes, Pedri… there are so many fantastic players playing at the highest level.
But for me personally, the best midfielder right now is Declan Rice. What he brings to a team is unbelievable. He changes games in so many different ways.
The way he defends, the way he reads danger, the way he controls the midfield, his leadership, his energy, his mentality, he gives you everything. He can protect the defence, drive the team forward, dominate duels, and still contribute with important goals and assists. Players like that are very rare in modern football.
People only look at flashy numbers sometimes, but when you really understand football, you realise how important Declan Rice is to Arsenal. He gives balance to the whole team. He makes everyone around him better.”
🎙️ Interviewer: “Do you think Declan Rice deserves the Player of the Season and FWA award ahead of Bruno Fernandes?”
🗣️ Arteta: “Obviously. Bruno Fernandes is a fantastic player, nobody can deny that, but when you compare the impact, consistency, and what they’ve achieved this season, you can clearly see the difference.
One player is helping his team compete for and win major titles, while the other is mainly fighting for individual recognition. That’s not disrespect, that’s just reality.
Declan Rice has performed at the highest level across multiple competitions, under huge pressure, every single week. He has been one of the main reasons Arsenal are champions.
At the end of the day, football is about winning, leading, and delivering when it matters most, and Declan Rice has done that all season long.”
We knew he deserved it... No one comes close.. but a lot of fans srill disagree and are angered... Your opinion doesn't count anymore... It is done, the champion has stood out.

Like Peter Obi said, when the history books are written, Abacha will be remembered as seemingly more democratic and more respectful of human rights than Bola Tinubu. The so-called champion of activism.
@HarmlessHQ It's a general practice around rhe world... In Panama, Egypt, USA etc etc. just research it ... However before the War it was completely free
