Une étape historique : la toute première Équipe Olympique de Réfugiés à participer à des Jeux Olympiques de la Jeunesse sera composée de six athlètes, avec une parfaite parité femmes-hommes. Ils concourront en athlétisme, judo et taekwondo.

À travers leur parcours, ces jeunes athlètes rappellent le potentiel, le talent, la détermination et les ambitions que portent les jeunes réfugiés à travers le monde.

📊 Nearly 8,400 refugees have returned from DRC to Rwanda since January 2025.

📊 Up to 10,000 returns are expected in 2026.
Sustained investment in reintegration and local services is essential to make returns sustainable and support long-term peace and stability.

Chad is currently hosting the largest refugee population in the region, providing safety and refuge to those fleeing conflict and persecution.

Today, the country hosts 1.5 million refugees and asylum-seekers, including 1.2 million people forced to flee Sudan. This represents nearly 40% of all refugees in the region.

The scale of this responsibility highlights both the urgency of continued international solidarity and the need for sustained support to host communities and refugees alike.

🔹 Nearly 20 million people are forcibly displaced or stateless in West and Central Africa.
🔹 14 million+ are internally displaced.
🔹 3.9 million are refugees and asylum-seekers.
🔹 58% of refugees are living in protracted displacement.
🔹 43,700 refugees returned home during the first four months of 2026.

Greater investment in solutions is needed to support voluntary return, inclusion and self-reliance, helping refugees rebuild their lives while supporting host communities.
