alden is such a stellar actor. as lovable as he was in ethanโs gentlest moments, he was downright scary on his descent to his lowest of lows. lahat ng nuances na necessary nakuha ni alden! ๐๐ป
strong itch to go for round 2 just to see ethan break down again lol

Overall still a good show. Would just take more time for me to dig the adult characters. Edward is currently the most interesting character as he isnโt your typical good boy main lead
Also, sana Julioโs long absence would be justified well kasi sa kanya na umikot buhay ng dalawa
Agree
Recent eps (except ep 9) struggled to maintain the pace set by the pilot week. Quite repetitive yung mention of the sistersโ career inspiration. Ok we know itโs bec of Julio, we saw that a week ago. Couldโve taken a better path showing their new dynamics as adults imo
random thoughts on Pulang Araw:
-Angelu de Leon is surprisingly good in Pulang Araw. A lot of praise goes to the kids, main stars, and Rhian Ramos (deserve!) but Angelu de Leon plays the villain role with such fragility and authenticity that I think she needs much praise too.
-it is gritty as hell and epic. it does not shy away from the harsh realities of war.
-however, what draws me in is the more relatable, quiet moments in the story.
- The young actress who plays the young Adelina is a future star. She is effective and really tugs your heart.
- Angelu as Carmela steals the show in the scenes she is in. It would be easy to play the evil stepmom as a caricature but she plays her with a bit of softness and a mix of mettle. I like her portrayal. Made me realize this is Peachy Sandoval, the one who made a lot of our childhood TGIS memories. (showing my age here)
- overall, the show is grand and ambitious, I am not sure how it will fare in local primetime. good choice in putting it on Netflix.
- it portrays the Filipino spirit and how we have been abused by the foreign invaders through the years. No good allies here, all abusers. and how that abuse has encapsulated our culture. how it deters us.
I feel it will be cinematic and tragic. It has heartbreak written all over it. But there is beauty in heartbreak and the unwavering spirit.
