There are 18 members of FIFA's disciplinary committee but the unprecedented decision to lift Balogun's automatic ban was taken by just one person - the chairman Mohammad Al Kamali of UAE. No one else was consulted.

@IsaacKimes@bcbuckeye@AlexiLalas I mean, you asked. Guy has also been in broadcasting for over a decade. I disagree with him, but it doesn’t mean he isn’t qualified.
@bay_spray@AlexiLalas They do have free academies, but they are select admission/ funded by clubs. Basically scholarship style academies but very limited admission rate. CR7 was a part of this and discussed the extreme difficulty of making the cut. Pushes merit, but everywhere else is rarely free.
@lazydays1970@franklinleonard@NobletStrength@AlexiLalas@ussoccer@MLS Sorry, when I think FIFA Rule 9, I think regulation for an in/ out of play ball. Which rule do you mean?
Agreed. I don’t like corruption in any private/ public form either, but I’m not surprised a bias towards a system ( @MLS )when that system inherently signs your checks.
Candace Parker saying Caitlin Clark being voted as the 11th-best guard by WNBA players is “crazy”
“You’ve got some insecurities if you’re sitting down and putting Caitlin Clark as the 11th-best guard. Y’all need to go to a therapist.”

Great idea! Still 1 thing: the will of companies to take the risk. We all like to allocate funds from companies we presume we know how their books operate. ❤️ the idea! But it’s the same as a fan saying to their club to just spend like it’s that simple.
No disrespect, @clint_dempsey may have done this. That I would believe. EOTD, CP’s career /choices are his just like LD’s were his when he took a hiatus (which good for him for doing what he needed). You can love the game without worshipping it.
USMNT legend Landon Donovan:
"You would've had to fucking drag me off the field. And I would've punched the doctor in the face and said, 'You're not taking me off the field."
@franklinleonard Sincerely, why? I get he’s not the playing pedigree of TT and Zlatan. Very few are. But he’s played professionally across multiple leagues & intn’l level. He’s been pres./ GM for 3 MLS Clubs, and has been @FOXSports for over a decade. Not my fave, but seems pretty merited.
@lazydays1970@franklinleonard@NobletStrength@AlexiLalas Completely agreed. Which means @ussoccer has hard decisions to make. But also, do we have an agreement with all private clubs (big & small) to this? That takes time to implement and it’s a big risk for all. I get why @MLS protects itself. More to lose. I disagree but I get it.
@diePlebejer@franklinleonard@NobletStrength@AlexiLalas Who does the money go to? USSF is a private organization. Government academies? Who sets it up? What committees research/begin looking/ creating infrastructure? Respectfully, saying someone else’s money is the answer is also a choice. We’re 39 tril in debt, can be better spent.
@lazydays1970@franklinleonard@NobletStrength@AlexiLalas Both have primarily Pay to play systems (both I used in youth sports). Changes slightly as you age, but still takes money, investment, infrastructure, and mostly long-term commitment to growth. We don’t have that with soccer here yet. Getting better, but this isn’t presto/chango.
@lazydays1970@franklinleonard@NobletStrength@AlexiLalas E.g. England has roughly 2 million men playing football recreationally on a monthly basis. 2nd highest is Cricket w/ 281,000. Are they going to generate tons of free academies like football? No. In US, highest sports played are Track and American Football. Both in 1 mil territory
