1/3 Since the elections, the Tisza Party's primary efforts have focused not on governing the country, but on political vendetta and serving Brussels' demands.
3/3 For this reason, the Fidesz–KDNP delegation in the European Parliament took several steps this week in response to the anti-democratic developments taking place in Hungary.

Today, at the European Parliament’s Conference of Presidents (COP), the @PatriotsEP requested a debate during next week’s plenary on the recent constitutional changes introduced by the Hungarian government that violate basic democratic principles. Left-wing groups and the EPP voted our proposal down.
For years, they attacked Hungary’s patriotic government with fabricated, politically motivated accusations and never missed an opportunity to condemn Hungary. Now, when unprecedented constitutional and democratic concerns have emerged, they remain silent. They even refuse to allow a debate.
This is a textbook example of double standards and hypocrisy. It proves once again that in Brussels, references to European values are used as a political weapon against sovereign, patriotic governments, while genuine violations are ignored.
We sent a letter to all MEPs warning about the unprecedented measures the Hungarian government is proposing under the slogan of "restoring democracy" and the rule of law. See their proposals below:
👉 They would retroactively disqualify MPs with at least 12 years of parliamentary service from standing for election, restricting the fundamental democratic right to stand for public office and voters' freedom of choice.
👉 Introduce a tailor-made, retroactive "Lex Orbán" to prevent Viktor Orbán from serving as Prime Minister again, excluding a political opponent from democratic competition.
👉 Remove the President of the Republic before the end of his constitutional mandate through an ad hominem measure with no legal justification.
👉 Dismiss the President of the Constitutional Court and several constitutional judges through a single constitutional amendment, prematurely terminating their lawful mandates.
👉 Establish an unprecedented and uncontrolled political police capable of exerting direct or indirect pressure and intimidation against political opponents and businesses.
👉 Place public media under direct government control while claiming to strengthen its independence.
Using its two-thirds majority, the government is rewriting the constitutional rules, legally disqualifying political opponents, restricting fundamental democratic rights, and pushing Hungary towards a constitutional crisis.
You cannot restore democracy and the rule of law by undermining them.
Today, the Fidesz Congress elected me as Vice President of the party. I am grateful for the renewed trust. I will do everything I can to help strengthen our political community in the fight for the soul of Hungary and Europe.
Today, the Migration Pact enters into force.
The pact is fundamentally flawed. Instead of stopping illegal migration at Europe’s external borders, it seeks to manage and redistribute it. Under its mandatory solidarity mechanism Member States are expected to take in migrants or make significant financial contributions. This is not a solution to illegal migration, instead it risks creating yet another pull factor.
The previous Fidesz–KDNP government consistently rejected the pact and made it clear that Hungary would not implement it. The European Commission has already made it clear: every Member State is expected to implement the pact. There will be no exceptions.
The Hungarian government continues to dodge the question. It is time to come clean. We urge the government to reject this failed pact and make it clear that Hungary will not implement it.
🗣️ | @_KingaGal 🇭🇺: “Make Europe strong, competitive and prosperous again.
We need affordable energy, less bureaucracy, a stronger Single Market and policies that support businesses, workers and families — not more centralisation and ideological regulation.
We, the Patriots, offer an alternative. We are working for a more successful Europe that better protects the interests of its citizens — a Europe that guarantees peace, security and prosperity.”
We have requested the immediate termination of the Article 7 procedure against Hungary.
It is clear now to everyone that the unprecedented political attacks over the past decade, disguised as rule of law concerns, were not based on facts about Hungarian democracy, but on false political narratives and ideological bias.
We are also calling for the immediate release of all withheld EU funds to Hungary, as well as the suspension of the daily 1 million EUR migration fine.
The @PatriotsEP did not take part in the European Order of Merit ceremony.
We reject such initiatives on principled grounds. Awards of this kind should remain a competence of the Member States, not become tools for promoting a European superstate.
Meanwhile, the European Parliament itself fails to respect democratic values, as the Patriots — despite being the third largest political group — are still excluded from several key decision-making processes within the EP.

Our track record speaks for itself. From today, Hungary is led by a liberal government. Let us hope they do not squander what our patriotic forces have built over the past 16 years. 🇭🇺
Yesterday at the EP’s COP, on behalf of @PatriotsEP, I supported extending the mandate of the NGO Scrutiny Working Group in the CONT committee.
❗️Originally, we called for the establishment of a fully-fledged committee of inquiry to investigate the use of taxpayers’ money to fund NGOs that advocate for the Commission’s policies and even seek to influence MEPs.
❗️The Working Group was already a compromise. When we agreed to this in June 2025, I said: the best way to kill a strong committee of inquiry is to set up a working group with no clearly defined powers and simply call it a scrutiny working group.
❗️Nevertheless, it is essential that the mandate be prolonged because we still haven’t received sufficient answers from the Commission. This Working Group must become more active and more thorough, but above all, it must be allowed to continue its work.
❗️Scrutinizing the work of the Commission is not only our right — it is our duty.
Another false allegation has been debunked. Claims targeting @OliverVarhelyi in connection with spying allegations turned out to be completely unfounded.
As the spokesperson of the @EU_Commission confirmed: “Based on the information gathered during this investigation and with the tools that we have at our disposal within the Commission, it is not possible to attribute individual responsibility or involvement beyond that of the intelligence officers themselves.”
This case is yet another example of a series of politically motivated attacks whose claims repeatedly prove to be baseless and served primarily to shape the political narrative during the Hungarian election campaign. We hope this is now clear to everyone.
