the emergence of AI art accounts doing well across social media isn't because of some moral failing of joe shmoe who's doom scrolling in between his wagie shift

AI art is the natural consequence of the proliferation of what i call "product art" that people go to expensive 4-year "art schools" for just to make digislop that an automated tool could recreate

news flash: if your highly mechanized approach can be automated away by a data aggregator that copies a mechanized corporate approach to art, then maybe the real vulnerability here is continuing to make easily replicable digislop

i've always loathed "digislop" tumblr art as i found it incredibly uninspired, derivative, soulless and artistically lacking. this type of art just looks like a mascot for a marketing scheme saying "hey guys i'm totally relatable and just like you, corporations are people too !!"

and the twitter artists who are coping and seething about this are venting misplaced rage at the fact that they sold their innate artistic sparkle to a corporate entity so they could be sold and packaged to other corporate entities to make marketing and mascot art

yes, the big tech creep sucks and is something to be alarmed about. but punishing customers for using accessible tools is such a privileged snobbish response

it's all just so sad and hypocritical. you hate big tech corpos expanding and making slop tools accessible yet you yourself make corpo slop and product "art"

there seems to be a fundamental misunderstanding of what clients of commission artists actually want. allow me to translate normie brain for you chronically online pretentious fucks ☝️🤓

to the average layperson, the normie if you will, fine arts is indeed a preferred standard, and most of you twitter artists are former tumblr burnouts with shit tier furry adjacent art styles that look like digislop — the art style is just bad.

so no, it's too much of a gamble and high risk to just ask random artists to complete a commission for a draft idea you're not even sure about yet

this places more control into the creative director's hands and reduces the influence of the artist's ego in their work — ego in art is far too abundant in the modern era, made much worse with the age of social media

artists no longer create bc they are pursuing beauty. they create bc they believe they have a chance at gambling for making "the best and most impactful piece of all time." i know this premise sounds delusional, and it's bc it is. artists are dreamers and they can get lost in their daydreams and ego if they are too concerned with prioritizing the "self" and "personal identity" in paid commission work

they no longer believe in Art, they believe in Themselves — and the truth is, most people just aren't that interesting.
