🇬🇭 Bernice Offei - The Voice Behind “Life Is So Short” Song 💯
Most people have listened to that powerful song with the popular line “So you see my brother, that life is so short…” but only a few know the face behind it.
This is Bernice Offei.
Bernice Offei is one of Ghana’s most respected gospel musicians an award winning singer, songwriter, and also a professional banker. Her songs are not just music; they are messages that touch the heart and remind people about life, faith, and purpose.
Born in Accra on 25th February 1969, she discovered her love for music at a young age. She attended Achimota School, where her passion for singing continued to grow.
But what makes her story even more powerful is her education. She is highly accomplished academically, holding an MPhil from the University of Ghana and an MSc from the United Kingdom.
For many years, she worked with Standard Chartered Bank, balancing a demanding banking career with her music ministry something not many people can do successfully.
Her music journey started seriously in 1979 when she taught herself how to play the guitar. With encouragement from mentors, she released her first album We Are Victors in 1991.
Over the years, she has given us timeless songs like:
Life Is So Short
Hold On
Nyame Kokroko
Her impact has been widely recognized. At the Ghana Music Awards, she won Best Female Vocal Performer and Songwriter of the Year, and she was also crowned Best Gospel Artiste multiple times.
In 2016, after years of balancing both worlds, she finally left banking to focus fully on her music ministry.
Behind the music, she is also a family woman, married to Prof. Samuel Kwame Offei, with whom she has two children.
Bernice Offei is a true example of grace, intelligence, and purpose a woman who used her voice not just to sing, but to inspire generations.
Indeed… life is short, but impact lives forever. ✨
