Spaza shops in Crossroads have been closed for almost a week following threats from alleged extortionists.
According to several shopkeepers, letters containing threats and demands were delivered to shops across the area last week, forcing owners to shut their doors. The closures are now affecting the wider community, with residents having to travel long distances just to buy basic household goods.
